Leeds United fans have been reacting to the display of Luke Ayling during their game with West Ham United.
Given their positions in the table, it’s a game that means more to the home side than the visitors, although that isn’t to say that Leeds United don’t have their own targets when it comes to success this season.
One player though who didn’t seem to help Leeds United’s cause in their effort to get three points was Ayling. He gifted West Ham the opener when he tripped England man Jesse Lingard and conceded a penalty just before the twenty-minute mark, and could only watch as Craig Dawson found the net for their second at a corner.
Which led to a torrent of tweets from the supporters, who were far from impressed by his efforts in the opening 45 minutes:
“I love Ayling but there’s just no reason to stick a foot in there against a player moving across you in the box. Especially one who won’t need much invitation to go down.”
Ayling, valued at £3.15m on Transfermarkt, is usually such a reliable player for them, ranking 5th out of the team when it comes to their WhoScored rating, but even reliable players are susceptible to the odd error here and there.
