First up in this Gareth Barry quiz, which club did Villa sign the midfielder from?

On the subject of Cash, who is currently out of action with a hamstring injury he suffered last month, Dorsett had this to say on the matter.

He said: “It doesn’t sound like Matty Cash is going to be back for this game [against Wolves at the weekend].

“He’s back running on the grass earlier this week, but he hasn’t done any ball work yet, so almost certainly going to miss this one as well.

“And he’s a big miss, he’s been one of their unsung heroes, he’s been absolutely fantastic – both going forward in offering attacking options and crucially, defensively. I think it’s unsettled that Villa backline a little bit, him not being there.”

Villa signed Cash back in the previous summer transfer window from Championship side Nottingham Forest for a fee of £14.18 million.

Since then, the 23-year-old, who is currently valued at £10.8 million, has made 21 appearances for Dean Smith’s side in which he has managed to provide two assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Rob Dorsett’s comments on Cash and his injury…

Given how Cash has made more tackles per game (2.6) and interceptions per game (2.3) than any other Villa player so far in the Premier League and earn himself a decent season rating of 7.06/10 (per WhoScored), this shows just how integral the Englishman has been for Villa and their defensive line so far this season.

Have Villa missed Matty Cash since he's been injured?

No

Also, taking into account how Villa have conceded three goals and only managed to win one out of the three previous league games that they’ve had to play without Cash, this suggests that they have missed him and his defensive abilities since he’s been out with this injury.

Moving forward, everyone at Villa will undoubtedly be hoping to see Cash recover from his injury as soon as possible so he can get back on the pitch and make the team defensively stronger.
