Aston Villa podcaster Chris Dolan has been sharing his thoughts on the upcoming summer transfer window and what business the club should look to do in it.

This comes after Dolan recently made an appearance on a recent episode of The Villa View Podcast where he discussed a number of topics concerning the Villans, including their recent 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

First up in this Gareth Barry quiz, which club did Villa sign the midfielder from?

On the subject of the summer transfer window and Villa’s potential involvement in the market, Dolan had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I think we’ll probably go for four or five, six players.

“I think we’ll probably get rid of three or four and we’re going to have to spend some big money if we want to compete at the levels that our owners want us to compete at, and that’s top four, top six.”

Goals from Harry Kane and Carlos Vinicius secured all three points for the north London club in the match at Villa Park, leaving Dean Smith’s side in 10th place in the league table on 41 points with 10 games left to play (per BBC Sport).

TIF Thoughts on Chris Dolan’s comments on the summer transfer window…

Given how Villa spent a total of £74.12 million on signing new players last summer after managing to avoid relegation at the end of their previous league campaign after a 1-1 draw against West Ham United on the final day, this shows that the current owners are not reluctant to invest money into the team and sign players to boost the squad.

Do you think Villa will sign some new players in the summer?

No

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, it will be interesting to see if the club does try and bring some new players in or let some current players leave as Dolan suggested in the podcast.

In our view, given how Villa have scored the fewest amount of goals (39) compared to all the other teams in the top half of the league table, perhaps signing a player that can score goals on a consistent basis would be a good place to start in summer.
