Leeds United supporters have been sharing their views on the reports linking Alaves goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco to the club.

The Elland Road outfit have enjoyed a fabulous first season back in the Premier League, with Marcelo Bielsa guiding his side to 11th position in the top-flight standings after 26 games.

Bielsa’s unique style has led to several open and expansive games throughout the current campaign. The West Yorkshire side have caught the eye of the neutral through their free-scoring nature and apparent casual approach to defending.

However, the former Athletic Bilbao coach seems to be keen to shore up his defensive unit. 21-year-old shot-stopper Illan Meslier has a potentially huge future in the sport, but his lack of experience has been exposed on occasion, and according to TodoFichajes (via TEAMtalk), Leeds could make a move for a more senior goalkeeper over the summer, something their supporters aren’t too sure about.

“Personally I can’t see it… Leeds have 3 at least and when Casilla leaves the U23 goalkeeper will step up.. how do you think a 28-year-old will feel being 2nd behind a 21-year-old that is playing amazing.. he won’t”

@malamute1

“Great keeper but at 28 he’d want to start so that means our 21-year-old drops down the pecking order”

@BigJimmy_V

“Seems like a very good goalkeeper in La Liga”

@Alexcooper173

“Another Spanish keeper, what could possibly go wrong…”

@gjengland

“I have really gone off Spanish Keepers!”

@PaulBlakemore11

“Clickbait”

@BhachuBallhar

“Why?”

@Grazzington

“Hopefully can offload Casilla in summer, just need an experienced cheap back up for Meslier”

@JamesPearson25

“I can’t see this happening. Surely if we replace Kiko we offload him for an older, safer pair of hands who is happy to be a number 2 goalkeeper and step in when needed.”

@NrthmbrlndWhite

Meslier may have made some mistakes this season, but it’s clear he remains a popular figure amongst the Leeds fanbase who appreciate his potential. Any move for Pacheco is likely to be met with some caution from the supporters – though they would surely back any Bielsa decision at this moment in time.
