Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest post concerning Whites attacker Tyler Roberts.

This comes after Leeds journalist Graham Smyth shared a post on his official Twitter page that contained an article from the Yorkshire Evening Post on the Welshman.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

In the caption to his post, Smyth said that Roberts “has some stuff to work on” and that “while he’s shown glimpses of his talent, enjoyed Marcelo Bielsa’s patience and gained a lot of experience, there is some cause for urgency”.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Leeds fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on Smyth’s summary of the attacker.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to Smyth’s post about Roberts?

“If he’s got real talent then send him out on loan. He’s not good enough for the premier league at the moment.”

@LeoMartorana

“Some Leeds fans have to remember that he’s only just 22 and has had a horrendous time with injuries. Glad to see him getting a run and playing well. Will sharpen up his finishing. So much talent”

@lomas_mr

“He’s young and may well make it at this level yet, but I just don’t think he’s ready at the moment. He’ll be a really good signing for a championship side and maybe in two or three years, he’ll be ready for his chance. Think he’ll go in the summer.”

@TotalLeedsball

“To me he is a striker and trying to adapt to play in the 10 role. He was probably brought through the youth system playing upfront. You have to give him sympathy for that, but when watching him he tends to have 1 touch to many a lot of the time. A loan out would have helped a lot”

@Rich479

“Needs a loan spell somewhere to show what he can go. Next season we just won’t have the space in the side to give him his development opportunity at the pace he’s currently at”

@graemedouglas

“Strong agree here. It’s usually very unlikely that you start your first game and are on fire from that point going forward… many players need a good run in the starting lineup to properly find their place/form. He’s frustrating at times, but it’ll come.”

Leeds signed Roberts, who is currently on £47k per week at Elland Road, back in the 2018 January transfer window from the West Bromwich Albion U23 squad for a fee of £2.57 million.

Since then, the 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £3.57 million, has made 70 appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in which he has managed to score seven goals and provide nine assists in the process (per Transfermarkt).

Do you think Roberts is good enough to play for Leeds in the Premier League?

Yes

No

No

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that some of these Leeds fans seem to think that Roberts is not at the required level to play in the Premier League for the club just yet.

Given how Roberts hasn’t yet managed to score a goal in the league yet and earn himself an underwhelming season rating of 6.28/10 for his performances (as per WhoScored), making him one of the lowest-rated players in Leeds’ squad, this backs up the suggestion from these Leeds fans that Roberts has somewhat struggled so far this season.

In our view, if Roberts doesn’t pick up his form from now until the end of the season, this could potentially persuade the club into moving him elsewhere, either on a loan move or a permanent one in the summer.
