Leeds United fans have been reacting to some rather intriguing news coming out surrounding goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.
A signing during the January transfer window of 2019, he quickly established himself as the number one for Leeds United under Marcelo Bielsa, starting pretty much every game for the club until his suspension for racial abuse during the last campaign, allowing Illan Meslier to come in and usurp him in the starting role.
He has played sporadically since, most notably during their FA Cup loss to Crawley Town, for which he was slated by the fans for his display.
But it looks as if that might be the last time Casilla will have pulled on a Leeds shirt. Speaking after the game with West Ham United last night (via @PhilHay_), Marcelo Bielsa explained that he decided to go with 19-year-old Elia Caprile on the bench rather than the Spaniard even though there was no injury concern with him.
Some fans have interpreted this as meaning the club are slowly phasing out Casilla, which seemed to leave a lot of them rather happy indeed:
“Starting the phase Casilla out. Interesting..”
Could he have played his last game for Leeds? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
