Speaking recently on a video for Touchline Talk, journalist and transfer insider Dean Jones discussed Glasgow Rangers’ deadline day transfer activity.

Following a summer transfer window which saw the arrivals of no less than 14 players, including the likes of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten, as well as the permanent signings of Ianis Hagi and Jermain Defoe, Rangers have performed magnificently in the first half of the season.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Gers transfer quiz. According to Transfermarkt, the £4.5million signing of which player has been the club's most expensive signing so far this summer?

Steven Gerrard’s side currently lead the Scottish Premiership table by 23 points, having not lost a single game in the competition, as well as having secured qualification for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

As a result, it would appear that the Ibrox side are not in desperate need of additions to their squad in the January transfer window and, having made no signings at present, Jones, speaking on a recent video for Touchline Talk, said that he would not expect to see Gers enter the market over the closing stages of the window.

He said: “I haven’t heard of anything, no. They are in good shape, and when you’re in as good a position as they are, there doesn’t seem too much need to rock the boat and change the balance of the dressing room – on the pitch or off the pitch. They’d be wise to keep their slate clean for now and see how they can push on in the summer window.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments regarding Rangers…

As previously mentioned, with Rangers having spent £10.35 million on incoming deals last summer, it would appear that Gerrard managed to get the majority of his transfer business done at the beginning of the season, and to wonderful effect.

As such, as Jones suggests, it would indeed appear as if there may not be any incoming activity at all from Rangers over what remains of the January transfer window, meaning Gers fans could be in for a rather quiet Monday evening.
