Speaking recently on a match reaction video for The West Ham Way, Dave Walker raved about the performance of West Ham United midfielder Jesse Lingard in the club’s recent victory over Sheffield United.
Despite having only joined West Ham from Manchester United on a five-month loan deal back in January, Lingard has already made a significant impact in east London.
Over his three Premier League appearances for David Moyes’ side, the £9 million-rated 28-year-old has scored two goals and averaged a WhoScored match rating of 7.67 – ranking him as the club’s best performer in the top flight.
The England international was once again in fine form in Monday evening’s 3-0 victory against Sheffield United, having four shots on target, completing three dribbles and winning a penalty, earning him a SofaScore match rating of 7.7 for his efforts.
And, Lingard was one player who Walker heaped considerable praise on in a match reaction video for The West Ham Way, as well as stating his excitement at the potential of the Hammers making Lingard’s loan deal a permanent move.
He said: “What a signing. The potential of making that permanent really excites me. He’s so hungry, so hungry and we need players like that. It takes the edge off [Michail] Antonio not being around, having Jesse about. Delighted for him.”

Despite Walker’s interest in West Ham making Lingard’s loan deal a permeant move this summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reluctance to let the midfielder leave Manchester in January does not appear to path the way for the Hammers to go on and sign the 28-year-old on a full-time basis this summer.
However, after Lingard recently took a dig at the United boss, suggesting that he was not given a chance by the 47-year-old, as well as the fact that he is performing exceptionally at West Ham, who are fighting for a Champions League spot this season, perhaps Lingard could well be convinced of a permanent move to east London.
