West Ham United insider and podcaster @ExWHUemployee has been sharing some details on Hammers defender Craig Dawson.

This comes after Ex recently co-hosted the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning David Moyes’ side.

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

On the subject of Dawson, who is currently on loan at the London Stadium from Watford, Ex had this to say about the player. (1.03.47)

He said: “He’s got a clause obligation to sign if he makes 15 to 20 appearances. I’m not sure the exact figure if I’m honest with you, but I do know that it’s based on Premier League appearances of him reaching a milestone.

“I think he might have already played 10 I think so five more, 10 more and he’s going to have his contract renewed anyway for about £2.5 million which is an absolute bargain in my eyes.

“Even if he doesn’t trigger that cause let’s just say it gets injured or something. I would still go back to Watford and say ‘look, we didn’t have to buy him, but we want to buy him here’s £2.5 million.'”

As mentioned earlier, Dawson joined West Ham back in October on a loan deal from Championship side Watford until the end of the season.

Since then, the 30-year-old, who is currently valued at £3.6 million, has made 12 appearances for the east London club in which he has already managed to score three goals in the process (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Ex’s comments on Dawson…

Given how Dawson has managed to earn himself a solid season rating of 6.93/10 for his Premier League appearances with West Ham so far this season, this shows that he has proven himself to be a useful addition to Moyes’ squad.

Specifically, with Dawson having made 4.1 clearances per game and 1.5 interceptions per game, he has shown himself to be an integral part of West Ham’s defensive strength this season.

In our view, West Ham should try their best to try and secure Dawson on a permanent deal from Watford when his loan deal with the Hammers expires.
