Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have taken to Twitter to criticise the first-half performance of Spurs’ centre-back, Eric Dier, in the club’s Premier League clash with West Ham United.

So far this season, Dier’s form has been somewhat shakey in the heart of the Tottenham defence, with the 27-year-old making an average of 0.7 tackles, one interception and 4.9 clearances over his 20 Premier League fixtures, culminating in an average WhoScored match-rating of 6.70 – ranking him as the club’s 10th-best performer in the top flight, prior to the West Ham fixture.

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

However, having been an unused substitute in two of the club’s last four Premier League fixtures, Jose Mourinho opted to start the £22.5 million-rated defender in the club’s London derby with the Hammers, although, after Michail Antonio bagged early on to give West Ham the lead in the match, fans of Tottenham appeared far from happy with both Dier’s defending for the goal, as well as his performance in general.

So, what exactly did these Tottenham Hotspur fans have to say regarding Eric Dier’s performance?

“Dier is the worst defender in the league, Championship-level at best.”

@LouisJonesTHFC

“Dier is an absolute liability.”

@HipSpurs

“Dier is comfortably stealing a living.”

@thfczak

“Dier is the worst thing to ever happen to this club.”

@L_thfc_R

“The two words I’d describe Eric Dier with are clumsy & passive.”

@THFCConnor

“I think Danny Dier would do better right now.”

@Scorpion1966

“Dier is absolutely awful.”

@jasonmilburn123

“Dier please get out my club you pathetic waste of space”

@LewisHolmes9

All in all, it would appear that these Tottenham fans are far from happy with the performance of Dier, who reportedly earns a whopping £85k-per-week in N17, so far against West Ham, and, considering how quickly David Moyes’ side made the breakthrough in the fixture, it is not overly surprising.
