Lots of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from Toon news Twitter account @ChronicleNUFC which shared an article from ChronicleLive that included comments on Jacob Murphy from Newcastle manager Steve Bruce.

The £3.15m-rated man has been left out of the matchday squad for both of Newcastle’s last two Premier League games

However, per ChronicleLive, Bruce has confirmed that the winger is fit to play and explained that Murphy “has to take the opportunity when it comes,” indicating that the player has just dropped out of his first-team plans at St. James’ Park of late.

In their tweet sharing this article, @ChronicleNUFC asked fans of the North East club if they would like to see Murphy get his next chance to impress by starting Newcastle’s clash with Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

So, how have these Newcastle United fans been reacting to this post?

This tweet drew a largely negative response from these Newcastle United fans.

They begged Bruce not to start Murphy, who is valued at €7m (£6m) by CIES Football Observatory, against the Saints with some Toon supporters taking the opportunity to hammer the 25-year-old’s overall quality.

Starting with an easy one, how much did Joelinton cost Newcastle when he swapped Hoffenheim for Tyneside?

“No. Not at all. With our current formation ASM, Miggy and Fraser are fighting for 2 positions. He is properly on the outskirts”

“No. Good squad player but not good enough to play in the premier league week in week out”

“I’m inclined to say no, because he is so limited, but so are our other options. We appear to have lots of competition for places at full back and midfield, but they are all mediocre at best #nufc”

Should Murphy start versus the Saints?

“No. not good enough., he tries his best but his decision making is shocking.. either over runs the ball and loses possession or has a tame shot at goal.
He seems a good lad but like atsu, gayle , carroll, shelvey, krafth and ritchie they need to be sold .”

All in all, it’s clear that many Newcastle United supporters don’t rate Murphy very highly – and with good reason too, he’s only scored three and assisted five in 59 appearances for the club.
