Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news concerning Toon manager Steve Bruce.

This comes after The Chronicle shared a post on their page that contained an article from their website saying that Bruce is set to lean on Paul Dummett and Dwight Gayle to be deployed in their upcoming Premier League match against Manchester United.

Starting with an easy one, how much did Joelinton cost Newcastle when he swapped Hoffenheim for Tyneside?

In his latest press conference ahead of the clash at Old Trafford, Bruce said that they will need Dummett’s “experience and know-how.”

In regards to Gayle, Bruce said that they “know he can score a goal so the minutes under his belt can only help him.”

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this news.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this post about Bruce potentially using Dummett and Gayle in their match against United?

“2 players that aren’t good enough that’s why we’re in a relegation dog fight”

@SeanMRAGAME

“Shambles”

@zzDREADNOUGHTzz

“Really? So still doesn’t know strongest side arggghhhhhh”

@Colin_Wright_

“He could turn to Maldini and Messi and it would make a blind bit of difference aslong as he’s in charge – clueless”

@dagvidjunior

“Wilson is our only premiership player. We have a championship team and that’s evident in the results and table”

@NUFCtoonarmy

“Wow! Both should have been binned and replaced with better after the last promotion.”

@77Thommo

“did he watch that match against chelsea gayle was embarrassing”

@ftblArran

“Oh that makes it all alright then. We’ll be challenging for Europe in a matter of days.”

@SiskJerry

Looking at the replies to this post, it appears that these Newcastle fans aren’t particularly impressed by the idea of Dummett or Gayle playing in the game against the Manchester club, with some fans suggesting the pair are not at the required level to perform for the club in the Premier League.

Is Newcastle's squad good enough to stay in the Premier League?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how Dummett has only managed to earn himself a season rating of 6.46/10 for his league performances so far this season and with Gayle having an even lower rating of 6.21/10 (per WhoScored), it’s understandable why these Toon supporters feel this way.

If either of the pair does make an appearance against United, they will need to do everything they can to help the team pick up a positive result to keep them away from the relegation zone.
