Liverpool podcaster and fan Neil Fitzmaurice has been sharing his thoughts on a potential future transfer move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

This comes after Fitzmaurice recently hosted the latest episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning the Merseyside club.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of potential future transfers at the club, Fitzmaurice had this to say about a potential move for Haaland, who has been linked with the club in the past. (34.59)

He said: “Let’s look at Haaland, who is a baby still, who is one of those players that ticks every single box, an absolute monster of a goalscorer.

“So, when you buy a player like Haaland, you’re buying someone you can get five years out of and then sell on. He ticks every single Fenway Sports Group box in that respect.

“He also seems to me to be the kind of kid who has used a lot of common sense when it comes to his own career because he could have [taken] the big move already, but he didn’t, he chose to go to Dortmund, where he wanted to learn.

“He seems to be a very level-headed young lad with really good people behind him, advising him. He would seem like an ideal fit for Liverpool Football Club.”

Haaland signed to Dortmund from RB Salzburg back in January 2020 for a fee of £18 million. Since moving to Dortmund, the 20-year-old, who is currently valued at £99 million, has made 40 appearances for the club in which he has managed to score 38 goals and provide nine assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Neil Fitzmaurice’s comments on Haaland…

Given how Liverpool are currently 10 points behind league leaders Manchester City in the Premier League table, maybe this could push the owners at Anfield to make a move for Haaland so he can hopefully bring his incredible goalscoring record at Dortmund over to the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, with it being reported that Liverpool have taken a big financial hit as a result of the global pandemic, this could prove to be a stumbling block in a potential move for Haaland or any big-money transfers in the future.
