The Athletic’s Leeds United journalist Phil Hay has recently talked about the situation of Pablo Hernandez.

Hay made an appearance on the latest episode of the Phil Hay Show and the panel talked about multiple issues involving the Whites. One topic of discussion was Hernandez’s absence in Leeds’ recent league game against Crystal Palace. Hay hinted at the fact that the midfielder might well be heading closer and closer to an Elland Road exit.

Hernandez has played only a limited part in Leeds’ first-team affairs in the current campaign, as he’s played only 274 minutes in the Premier League. He still has two assists in his bag though, having made only ten appearances for the side. He wasn’t in the squad for the club’s win over Palace (as per Transfermarkt).

Should Leeds sell Hernandez?

Hay talked about Hernandez’s situation and described it as a ‘curse’ and he believes that the former Swansea man could be edging closer to an exit.

The journalist said (2:06): “As for Hernandez, muscle injury in the last training session before the game. So he wasn’t on the bench. Didn’t feature, obviously chatted on it at length about him before but he just cannot get going this season. I think he is going to find it hard to get going in the period that’s left and I think more and more he is heading towards a summer exit. But yes, one to watch, seems to be ever more of a damning curse at the moment.”

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

TIF Thoughts on Pablo Hernandez’s future…

Hernandez hasn’t been in the Leeds squad as many as eight times in the Premier League this season. While he was pretty active in the first-team last season, he has been the opposite this season.

The Spaniard is now 35 and isn’t getting any younger with every passing day. His contract runs out in the summer of 2022 and since he isn’t contributing much to the team, Leeds can still get some money from his sale in the summer. So it won’t be a bad idea to sell him in the summer.
