Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been sharing his doubts over Lilywhites midfielder Harry Winks and his future at the north London club.

This comes after Gold recently uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Jose Mourinho’s side.

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

After Winks made a substitute appearance during Spurs’ recent FA Cup defeat against Everton, Gold had this to say about the Englishman’s future at the club. (15.53) (17.02)

He said: “I do start to wonder for Winks, I am not one who likes to criticise him, I am one that thinks there’s a very good player in there that I saw boss it at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid and against Dortmund. I’ve seen him at Wembley against Liverpool looking absolute class above a few years back.

“I just think he’s got to find his exact role in a team. It doesn’t quite work for him alongside [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg. I do wonder, I’m starting to wonder whether for him whether a restart in his career might end up coming in the summer because he just can’t find his groove under Mourinho.

“If he can’t get a run of games and his form back by the end of the season, I’d imagine Winks will probably want to move on for the sake of his own career, and obviously, his England place as well.”

As a product of Spurs’ youth academy, Winks made his senior debut for the club back in November 2014 under former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Since then, the 25-year-old, who is currently valued at £22.5 million, has gone on to make 163 appearances for the north London club in which he has managed to score four goals and provide three assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments on Winks’ future at Spurs…

Given how Winks managed to earn himself a disappointing match rating of 5.94/10 for his performance in the cameo appearance he made against Everton in midweek, it’s understandable why Gold thinks Winks’ place in this Tottenham side and his future at the club could be in doubt.

Moving forward, Winks will need to take every opportunity he gets on the pitch to prove to Mourinho and the Spurs fans that he has what it takes to be an important figure at the club.
