Leeds United fans have been piling on the praise for young defender Pascal Struijk following some rather impressive international news.

Having been used sparingly last season by Marcelo Bielsa during their time in the Championship, the defensive injury crisis that occurred over the winter has allowed him to play a lot more, playing a part in their last seven league games, earning plenty of praise along the way.

And that praise isn’t just reserved for just those in England either. According to a report from Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has held conversations with the 21-year-old about possibly switching his national allegiance from the Netherlands, who he has played for at youth level.

The switch itself wasn’t the main topic of conversation amongst supporters though, more the fact that he appears to be getting some major recognition, which they felt he richly deserved after his displays so far this season:

“Struijk > Cooper, Koch, Llorente”

“He deserves it”
“I’m so happy for him. Absolutely deserves the call-up.”
“This lad is only gonna get better and better !”
“The big fella deserves it if he gets this. Been absolutely outstanding for us since he came into the first team who’s getting better & better in each game.”
“Congrats to the guys he has been solid this season. What is wild about it though is that he only has 17 first team appearances in his whole career.”

It’s a transfer of sorts that it seems Leeds fans can get behind, and hopefully the only transfer he’ll be making for some time.
