Celtic fans have been reacting to news that Diego Laxalt has turned down a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.
Laxalt is only at Celtic Park on loan from AC Milan, but a report in Italy has claimed that the Middle East outfit are looking to bring him on board when his deal is up at the end of the campaign. The report claims that he was offered a three-year contract paying more than €3m a season, but money doesn’t look to be his priority right now.
Indeed, the reason that he turned the deal down was because he wants to earn a permanent move to Parkhead with his performances this season, with Neil Lennon also willing to make the deal happen when the time comes.
The defender has been an integral part of the Celtic side this season, playing in all bar one of the club’s games since his arrival. So when the news came through to fans on the Celtic Bible Twitter page, they were incredibly excited to hear that he wants to stick around a little bit longer:
“Did not expect that after the romours I saw, yas”
“OH MY DAYS”
“Would be good to have 3 left backs that bring different aspects to a game In all honesty I don’t see a problem”
“Maybe the best tackle at the club, timing wise. His final ball needs lots of work. I would keep him but I dont think celtic will.”
Should Celtic sign Laxalt permanently?
If he wants to stay, Lennon wants him to stay and the fans want him to stay, it looks like it will be a deal to suit all parties. So it might just be a case of when, not if a deal gets done.
