Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a transfer claim on Sven Botman that was made by in-the-know journalist Fabrizio Romano.
However, Romano has been on hand to pour cold water on the transfer link.
Early on Saturday morning, the journalist tweeted stating that the defender will not go to Spurs as the player has not been contacted by the club (per Fabrizio Romano).
This claim was then shared on Twitter by THFCReport, who stated that Spurs do not have plans to buy the defender from Lille.
Lots of fans then flocked to this tweet to air their reactions.
So, what did these Spurs fans have to say following the transfer claim on Sven Botman?
“Joey rodon is clear anyway”
“not even in the summer?”
The 20-year-old defender has until the summer of 2025 on his existing deal with Lille and a current market value of £22.5m according to Transfermarkt.
Would you like Spurs to sign Sven Botman this month?
Yes, he's a solid player
No, he's not that good
One fan even stated that the Lilywhites could be about to make a Ruben Dias-esque mistake. Indeed, Spurs were reportedly close to signing the defender before he joined Manchester City.
“We are seriously gonna do the Ruben Dias mistake again, huh.”
“I rate Botman but Lile would make us loads for him at that point would rather get Demiral or Eder Militao”
So far this season, Botman has made 19 Ligue 1 appearances for his French outfit, in which he has managed an impressive total of 1.9 interceptions per game (per WhoScored).
His average rating, too, has been solid as he has earned a 7.09/10 over his outings in the league, which has made him Lille’s joint-fourth-best performer.
“Apparently we’re getting Militao”
“Duncan Castles masterclass v2”
As can be seen in these responses from Tottenham fans, there was a bit of a mixed reaction from them after the claim regarding Botman emerged on Twitter.
