Alasdair Gold has been speaking on a live Twitter video with Rob Guest about all things Tottenham Hotspur.
One of the topics that came up during the video was transfers and what Tottenham have planned for the January transfer window.
The Football.london reporter seems to think that Spurs are in for a quiet transfer window with not much business expected.
He said: “I could lie and suddenly get very excited and jump up and down in my seat.
“I hope that Spurs fans kind of know in their heart of hearts it’s not going to be a busy transfer window; it’s not.
“The summer was a really, really good transfer window; it was fantastic.
“They addressed a lot of problems with the squad, and they did some fantastic deals.
“I think this window, it’s very much a case of finances aren’t going to be great, they have to sell to bring in.”
Do you believe Gold?
Yes, going to be a quiet window
No, we might pull off something
TIF Thoughts on Gold’s claim…
Tottenham had a strong summer window and strengthened in numerous positions for an outlay of just under £70m.
However, since then, Spurs have posted worrying financial results, and so we can see why Gold is telling Tottenham fans to prepare for a quieter window.
This might not be what they want to hear, but we think it is good that Gold is being realistic and not building up expectations too much.
Of course, last January, Spurs made two signings in Gedson Fernandes and Steven Bergwijn, so it will be interesting to see if any deals like that happen in this window.
However, if Gold is to be believed, Tottenham fans should prepare for a quiet January.
