Speaking recently on the Ask Ornstein YouTube show, David Ornstein discussed Arsenal’s reported interest in Real Madrid midfielder, Isco.

Since moving to Madrid from Malaga in what was a £27 million deal back in 2013, Isco has gone on to feature 318 times for Los Blancos, scoring 51 goals and providing 55 assists along the way.

In what month did Mikel Arteta take over as the Arsenal boss?

However, so far this season, the £18 million-rated 28-year-old appears to not be a central part of Zinedine Zidane’s first-team plans, starting just three games in La Liga and playing a total of just 344 minutes.

As a result, it has been reported that the Spanish giants would be willing to part with the Spain international in the January transfer window, with Arsenal mentioned as a possible suitor for the midfielder.

However, speaking on a recent episode of the Ask Ornstein YouTube show, Ornstein stated his belief that Mikel Arteta is not overly keen on a move for Isco.

He said: “Isco is a player who there have been many reports about and I understand that Mikel Arteta is not inclined to pursue that one.”

TIF Thoughts on David Ornstein’s comments regarding Arsenal’s interest in Isco…

While Ornstein does in no way go into detail as to why Arsenal and Arteta would not be keen on a move for Isco, it is abundantly clear that he feels that a move by the club is highly unlikely.

However, with Mesut Ozil being left out of the club’s 25-man Premier League and Europa League squads, Arsenal have a distinct lack of a natural attacking midfielder in their first-team squad, which could be a reason as to why the Gunners have scored fewer league goals than teams such as Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion this season.

As such, it would seem a logical move for the club to sign someone in the position this month, however, according to Ornstein, it will not be Isco.
