A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from NUFC 360, which has relayed news from the Daily Mail concerning Dwight Gayle.

Easy one to get us underway, in what month during 2019 was Steve Bruce appointed Newcastle manager?

The report claims that Fulham have reignited their interest in the striker, and though he has just six months of his Newcastle contract left, the Cottagers are keen on signing him this month.

Gayle suffered an injury last August and only just returned to the Toon’s first team in December, and he has made five appearances in which he has scored one goal.

However, it looks like Fulham are keen on signing Gayle, and that has annoyed these Toon fans who want to keep him.

Be crazy to sell him to them”

Peak Ashley would be selling him to potential relegation rivals.”

@RS_Belgravia

No, Gayle bar Wilson is our only proven striker. Carolls scored one goal since he came back. Selling Gayle would be a huge loss. Especially if we don’t bring in another one”

@NUFCMitch

Do you think Newcastle should sell Gayle?

No, we should keep him

No, we should keep him

Yes, get rid

Yes, get rid

Gayle was the Toon’s joint-second top goalscorer in the Premier League last season with four league goals, and in the year of 2020, only Callum Wilson scored more league goals for Newcastle than Gayle.

So, you can see why these Toon fans want to keep him.

Ridiculous to sell him without bringing someone with experience in first.”

@stuart_pearce

why he’s on the bench and Joelinton is starting every game is moronic… oh yea, that £40m fee”

@wearz

That makes a lot of sense… flog our highest goal scorer in 2020? No thank you. He should be starting!”

Also, Fulham are eight points below the Toon, but if they decided to sell Gayle to them, then that gap could decrease, and Newcastle could find themselves dragged into a relegation battle.

So, it will be interesting to see what happens, but it is clear that these Toon fans do not want to see Gayle leave in this transfer window.
