Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest club news shared by club journalist Phil Hay.

This comes after Hay recently shared a post on his official Twitter account revealing that the Premier League are looking into the possibility of postponing the Yorkshire club’s league clash against Southampton to allow the Saints’ FA Cup match against Shrewsbury Town to take place after it was previously cancelled due to a recent viral outbreak at the League Two side.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

In an article for The Athletic on the matter, it was claimed that Shrewsbury are “in danger of forfeiting the chance of a place” in round four of the FA Cup but are “hopeful that they and Southampton will be able to stage the tie before the next stage of the competition takes place on the weekend of January 23”.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Leeds fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this news.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to Phil Hay’s post on the Southampton fixture?

“This is good news”

@BobbyHarrold

“Good we need the rest”

@fleetwhite

“Wouldn’t mind it actually. A nice 10 day rest between important games.”

@walkerperkele47

“I wouldn’t be too fussed it would give us a bit more time to get defenders fit”

@ryan_savery

“If we didn’t have a crocked defence I’d try block the postponement, but it’s probably helpful for us TBH. It’s all been so poorly organised this season, inevitable we’d get a rise in cases & now we’ve barely any spare weeks to fit the games in”

@StuDalgleish

“good can use the break to find a club to take casilla”

@georgelufc

Looking at the replies to Hay’s post, it appears that these Leeds fans would be happy if their league clash against Southampton was postponed as it would give their players a longer rest time.

Would you be disappointed if the Southampton match gets postponed?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Also, with the club currently having players out with short-term injuries such as Diego Llorente and Tyler Roberts, an extended break if the Southampton match does get postponed would help these two players get back to full fitness.
