Fans of Celtic have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relayed a statement made by Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell, backing Neil Lennon.
In his statement on the club’s website, which was relayed by the official Celtic Twitter account, Lawwell commented on the club’s ‘determination to succeed this season’, as well as stating his hope that the Bhoys can ‘move forward together’.
The chief executive said that Neil Lennon, his staff and the players ‘have never been more determined to succeed’, and while acknowledging that Celtic ‘must improve’ on the pitch and that there is ‘a long way to go’, reiterated his call for the club and supporters to be united in their efforts to improve their fortunes.
So, what did these Celtic fans have to say in reaction to Peter Lawwell’s comments?
We will not win the league, we have surrendered the title to Rangers. The club has failed the supporters and the integrity of the club now lies in tatters.
You had all the chances to heavily invest in the team and pull away from our rivals. you chose mediocrity.
Shambles

You won Lennon. enjoy the money, I hope it makes you very happy. Dear lord what a sad little life Lennon. You ruined our season completely so you could have the money, but I hope now you spend it on getting some lessons in grace and decorum.

“Every decision taken, both on and off the park, is with the Club’s best interests at heart”
Well that’s a blatant lie. https://t.co/2SpNE2hMPW

The pressure has been mounting on Lennon in recent weeks, as following just one win in their last nine fixtures, the club have been dumped out of the Europa League, the Scottish League Cup and find themselves 11 points adrift of Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers.
Do you think Neil Lennon should be sacked?
Yes
No
However, despite this disastrous run of form, it would appear that Lawwell has placed his trust in Lennon, something which has outraged many Celtic fans.
Incredible, I never ever criticise the team online but this is becoming a joke. That statement reads as nothing more than an attempt to goad the fans into further protests! By keeping Lenny you’re throwing him to the wolves and risking his status with the fans – utterly shamleful

The players have chucked it plus our tactics are an utter joke. Michael Stewart couldn’t believe what he was seeing against County.

Absolutely outrageous. No sign whatsoever that they are in the least bit engaged with the reality of this situation. What it reveals is that they have no Plan B. We are run by vain, selfish, egotistical men who swagger in the sunshine but flounder in the storm. Shameful stuff.

All in all, it would appear that these Celtic fans are furious at Lawwell’s backing of Lennon, with many stating their belief that Celtic’s season is already over, while others took aim at the board directly for the club’s failures on the pitch.
