Supporters of Celtic have recently reacted to a tweet from Chris Sutton in which he discussed Neil Lennon’s potential team selection for the Scottish Cup final.
On Sunday, the Hoops and Heart of Midlothian will battle it out at Hampden Park to decide the winner of the 2019/20 Scottish Cup (per Sky Sports).
In the build-up to the final, Sutton wrote a piece for the Daily Record and urged Lennon to leave Scott Brown, Tom Rogic and Ryan Christie out of his starting lineup.
The former striker then shared this on Twitter and added that ‘sentiment’ should not come into the Hoops’ manager’s thoughts for the game.
This had lots of fans sharing their opinions on the matter.
So, what did these Celtic fans have to say about Chris Sutton’s tweet?
My @Record_Sport column on why sentiment shouldn’t come into Neil Lennon’s thoughts when picking his cup final team… your thoughts?? https://t.co/IvlMCBeaFg

100%. No disrespect to Brown, been a fantastic servant and captain for the club, but performances from him this season have been poor. Soro and Turnbull have earned their spots

Spot on Chris. You start your strongest team. As you and big Kev Kyle said – if you drop Turnbull and Soro what message does it send out. Big Brown and Rogic on if it’s not working.

In the piece, the retired striker claimed that David Turnbull ‘simply has to start‘ and he should not make way in the team to accommodate Rogic.
Meanwhile, Ismaila Soro should be in pole position ahead of Brown, and Jeremie Frimpong should be the man to start ahead of Christie, although it is ‘harder to justify leaving him out‘.
It’s as simple as this . The best staring 11 must play at this moment in time , as the safe team he always goes with is down in form . HH

He should go with the team who’ve played pretty well in the last 2 games, sentiment may cost him the cup and his job too

What I read into that (I agree on selections by the way) is the management are still insistent on continuing with Lennon. I think that’s a disaster and tomorrow’s result won’t change my mind either way

During Celtic’s last outing in the competition, the 2-0 win against Aberdeen, all three of the players which Sutton stated should not start in the final started against the Dons (per Transfermarkt).
Do you agree with what Chris Sutton had to say about Neil Lennon's team selection?
No, Sutton was wrong
Yes, Sutton was right
We need consistency of team selection, partnerships & performances so stick with the guys who have done the business & are confident

Keep the team as it is..it’s that simple ?

As can be seen in what these Celtic fans had to say, many of them were in agreement with Sutton’s assessment that Brown, Christie and Rogic should not start against Hearts.
