Many Celtic fans have been discussing an update involving Jeremie Frimpong that recently emerged on social media.
It has recently been reported that Premier League side Southampton are keeping tabs on the young Dutch right-back and apart from the Saints, a number of other clubs from the English Championship are also looking at the defender (as per The Scottish Sun).
The same report has also claimed that while discussions were taking place for Frimpong to extend his deal at the club, no agreement has been found yet.
Would it be sensible for Celtic to sell Jeremie Frimpong?
This update was relayed on Twitter by the Daily Record recently. Many Celtic fans made their opinions clear about the interest of other clubs in Frimpong.
What did Celtic fans make of this update involving Jeremie Frimpong?

Think in the right team (certainly not us) he could be a huge player

Frimpong under a competent Manager evolves into a right good wingback. Right now he’s playing for himself chasing ridiculous goals rather than the 15-20 assists he could already have had. Go get Collins Fai as a replacement. https://t.co/2nH5FfkZx6

Wouldn’t bother me much if he was part of the summer clear out. https://t.co/bTME8w0qaE

Frimpong had joined Celtic from Manchester City in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £342k. During his time at the club so far, he has made 41 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops while contributing to nine goals.
His current deal at Parkhead runs out in the summer of 2023. Some other Celtic fans also talked about the update involving the Dutchman.
If we could con someone into spending decent money for him, I would take it , not that it would be reinvested – and would mean we would be needing 2 RBS – we have Ralston I suppose . https://t.co/eo6ggjCEtl

Tell them we will swap him with Matt Le Tissier and give them 4 quid

Some of these Celtic fans wouldn’t mind seeing Frimpong leave the club in the near future and others feel that the youngster could become a better player under a better manager than Neil Lennon.
In the Premiership, he has made 14 appearances this season and has contributed to two goals already. As a result of that, as many as 15 players have picked up better ratings than him. While it suggests that Frimpong hasn’t had a great season so far, he is still 19 and might still improve as a player in the future.
Because of that, selling the youngster at this point doesn’t make sense for Celtic.
