Celtic podcaster Louis McCaffrey has recently made a claim about Odsonne Edouard and his campaign so far.

McCaffrey was hosting the latest episode of the Cynic Weekly podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Bhoys. McCaffrey made a claim about Edouard and he feels that the Frenchman looks miles off his best and it was as if he has ‘not kicked a ball’ in the current campaign.

Edouard was linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. His agent revealed in August that the striker was ‘happy’ at Celtic and enjoying his life in Scotland, saying that while playing in the Champions League is ‘important’ for the Frenchman, it isn’t ‘crucial’ for him at this point in his career (as per the Daily Record). During the previous international break, Edouard’s season was hampered after testing positive for the virus.

McCaffrey aired some criticism for Edouard, saying: “Edouard came in and started up front [against Sparta Prague]. I thought he was particularly poor, I mean they were all poor, but the expectation on Eddy is just so great. I think if we are being honest with ourselves, he’s just not kicked a ball this whole season.

“Obviously, he was out and he’s had [the virus]. We don’t quite know what toll that’s taken on his body and things like that, but the guy looks miles off it compared to what we know he can be.”

TIF Thoughts on McCaffrey’s comments regarding Edouard…

Edouard found the back of the net 27 times in all competitions last season and had even racked up 19 assists in the campaign. This season, he has scored only six times in all competitions so far as well as recording two assists for the Bhoys.

His last league goal for the club came against Ross County back in September and that goal came from the penalty spot. He is yet to score in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League. This seems to suggest that the current campaign hasn’t been great for Edouard so far and it is easy to understand why McCaffrey seems concerned.
