Speaking recently on the 67 Hail Hail YouTube show, Hamish Carton discussed the idea of Celtic replacing Neil Lennon with Hibernian manager, Jack Ross.

Since taking over at Hibs back in November 2019, Ross so far has overseen 41 matches in charge of the club, winning 21, drawing nine and losing 11.

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

So far this season, the 44-year-old’s side have impressed in the Scottish Premiership, in which they currently occupy fourth place, losing to only Aberdeen, twice, and Celtic, as well as being one of only two sides to take points off of table-toppers Rangers.

And, speaking on the 67 Hail Hail YouTube show, Carton discussed the possibility of Ross taking over at Celtic, should the under pressure Neil Lennon be removed from his position.

He said: “He’s one of the most promising Scottish managers out there at the moment. I like the way his teams play, I like the way he speaks in the media.

“Lots of downsides about Jack Ross – the way his Hibs side capitulated in that cup semi-final against Championship side [Heart of Midlothian], and even [on Saturday], how his Hibs side didn’t manage to beat [Celtic] when 2-0 up going into the final 10 minutes, puts me off the idea of bringing in Jack Ross.

“Next Celtic manager? The jury’s still massively out, for me.”

TIF Thoughts on Hamish Carton’s comments regarding Jack Ross…

From Carton’s comments, it is clear that he is not overly convinced about the idea of Ross taking over at Celtic, citing the club’s 2-1 semi-final cup defeat to Scottish Championship side Hearts as a reason against his theoretical appointment – while in any case, it is thought that the Celtic board has opted to back current incumbent Lennon for the time being.

However, in our opinion, one cup defeat should not tarnish the job that Ross has done in a rather limited spell at Hibs thus far, as shocks do happen every now and again.

Although, considering Ross has predominantly managed at, in comparison to Celtic, a lower level for the majority of his career thus far, perhaps it could be argued that, should Celtic indeed consider appointing Ross, they see how he fares over the next couple of seasons at Hibs before making a decision on the manager.
