In-the-know podcaster @ExWHUemployee has recently made a claim regarding West Ham United’s interest in signing Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic.

During the summer of 2019, Los Blancos sealed the arrival of the Serbian striker from Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt for a whopping £54m (per Transfermarkt).

Since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu, the 22-year-old attacker has scored just two goals and provided two assists in 31 outings for Real Madrid.

While the goals return is poor, he did bag an impressive total of 36 goals and nine assists in 75 appearances during his time in Frankfurt.

During the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee discussed a number of possible West Ham transfer targets and mentioned Jovic.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “There is some interest in Jovic. I mean, we keep getting linked with him. He was [Sebastien] Haller’s partner at Frankfurt and now plays for Real Madrid.

“I say plays, he’s barely played for them. There is obvious interest, as there would be for any player, really, that’s been signed by Real Madrid and [for] obvious reasons because of Haller.

“However, the deal to loan him is not anywhere near happening at this point. We could explore it in January, but it’s not like we’ve got anything current. It’s just speculation for now.”

TIF Thoughts on what @ExWHUemployee said about Luka Jovic…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, he believes there is some interest from the Hammers in the striker but there is nothing concrete as of yet.

Would you like to see West Ham sign Luka Jovic on loan?

No, he's not that good

Yes, he's a good player

Yes, he's a good player

While with Eintracht Frankfurt, Jovic and Haller played 47 matches alongside each other and combined for eight goals, which is the second-highest joint goal participation total of all the players Jovic played with in Germany.

So, potentially, the signing of the £22.5m-rated Serbian could have a positive impact on Sebastien Haller.

However, the fact that the 22-year-old forward has delivered a weak 6.32/10 average rating over three La Liga appearances for Real Madrid so far this season (per WhoScored) perhaps suggests he should be viewed with caution.
