Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to an update from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano regarding Tanguy Ndombele.

The journalist revealed on his ‘Here We Go‘ podcast, (via Last Word On Spurs), that Barcelona are keen on signing the French international next summer, saying:

“Barcelona are considering a move for Ndombele next summer.

“But for next January, Tottenham fans can be sure he is not going anywhere.”

The Catalan club were linked with a move for the former Lyon man during the recent summer window and were said to have offered the likes of Samuel Umtiti and Nelson Semedo in a potential swap deal for the 23-year-old (per Sky Sports). However, the midfielder remained with Spurs and has gone on to establish himself as a key part of Jose Mourinho’s side so far this season, having appeared in all seven on their top-flight fixtures, averaging a solid 6.65/10 rating (per WhoScored).

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

Therefore, it may not be good news for Spurs fans that Barcelona could target him next summer, although considering he is currently valued at £36 million (as per Transfermarkt) and the north London club paid £54 million to sign him just over a year ago, you’d imagine that the La Liga giants would have to shell out a substantial fee if they wanted to agree terms with the Lilywhites.

So, how did these Spurs fans react to the news that Barcelona are considering a move for Ndombele next summer?

Plenty of Spurs fans suggested that they feel this move is unlikely, due to Barcelona’s current financial troubles.

Overall, it seems as if the majority of Spurs fans are confident that Barcelona won’t be able to afford Ndombele and therefore would be surprised to see him depart Spurs in the near future.
