Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Spurs-focused Twitter account @TheSpursExpress which relays a claim that was recently made by journalist Alasdair Gold regarding Daniel Levy and how crucial the Spurs chairman’s negotiating skills were for Tottenham during the summer transfer window.
As stated in an article that Gold recently wrote for Football.london, Tottenham have announced a loss of £63.9m for the latest financial year after the club was ‘hit hard by the pandemic’, and Levy has predicted a loss in excess of £150m next year if fans still can’t attend games, which the chairman has described as ‘an irrecoverable loss of income’.
Despite that, Spurs had the fifth-highest net transfer spend of any Premier League side during the summer transfer window as they added Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon and Joe Rodon to their squad permanently, while Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius joined on loan.
Football.london credits Levy’s negotiating skills for getting Jose Mourinho the players that he wanted, with the chairman getting some deals done at ‘bargain prices’ and managing to get the payments for some deals ‘spread thinly over instalments’.
So, how did these Tottenham Hotspur fans react to @TheSpursExpress’ tweet relaying this claim on Levy’s negotiating skills?
Daniel Levy’s negotiating skills came into force during the summer transfer window. This was through agreeing bargain prices and thinly spread instalment deals for Spurs.

This report from Football.london states that Levy ‘earned plenty of praise’ from Mourinho for the summer transfer business that Spurs did and many of the Tottenham fans who replied to this tweet also waxed lyrical about the chairman in response to this claim on his negotiating skills.

He’s done wonders, however if you had to pick a new Bond villain from the football world Levy would be it.

Judging by the replies to this tweet, it certainly seems as though plenty of Spurs fans appreciate the work that Levy did during the summer transfer window, and with Tottenham currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table, perhaps that’s not a major surprise.
