Newcastle United journalist Liam Kennedy has shared the latest update on the potential Saudi-backed takeover of the Tyneside club.

This comes after Kennedy recently made an appearance on Steve Wraith’s latest video on his YouTube channel where the pair discussed a number of different topics concerning the Toon.

Starting with an easy one, what number does Wilson wear for Newcastle?

On the topic of the potential takeover and if there had been any progress over the last few days on it, Kennedy had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Things are happening, things are moving. We’re a little bit further ahead than we were this time last week.

“To be honest, it is moving, the legals are all putting their ducks in a row. We’re obviously seeing pressure from every single angle and fans out there have just got to effectively do that, continue to do what they’ve been doing throughout this process.

“Keep supporting the lads, keep putting the pressure on and you never know, we might have something to celebrate in the new year.”

After Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben Brothers withdrew their interest from taking over Newcastle back in July after originally putting in a bid of £300 million because ‘the prolonged process under the current circumstances coupled with global uncertainty has rendered the potential investment no longer commercially viable’ for them, both the club and Newcastle Consortium Supporters Limited have opened legal battles against the Premier League over their handling of the original takeover bid.

As well as these legal battles, it was reported back in July that current Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was still “100% committed” to the takeover.

Do you think the takeover will go through before the end of the season?

TIF Thoughts on Liam Kennedy’s comments on the proposed takeover and the legal battles…

Looking at how Newcastle are currently sat in 15th place in the Premier League table at this moment in time after winning just three out of their nine played league games so far this season, this update from Kennedy will undoubtedly provide a lot of Newcastle fans with a much-needed bit of positive news about their club, following recent flare-ups of fan unrest amid the team’s poor performances of late.

Also, with Amanda Staveley saying that the takeover would have provided investment into the Newcastle area, let’s hope the takeover will eventually go through so this investment can get started.
