A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from Keith Downie, which confirms a few travel plans for the Toon surrounding their game against Southampton tonight.
The Sky Sports reporter claims that the squad will have to stay overnight, as Southampton Airport closes at 10pm.
This meant that the squad had to travel to the match today rather than the day before – which would be the usual practice for their away trips, while the team will have return to Tyneside tomorrow.
This post has drawn the attention of these Toon fans, who feel that they might be at a disadvantage for the game against the Saints.
So, what did these Newcastle fans think of Downie’s post?
Travelling same day ain’t good. Will be very interesting how the energy levels are early in the game.

extra night is not an problem but traveling down the same day as the game is not good. Hope they still feel fresh and ready tonight!

However, other Toon fans feel that this is a pointless post and are not bothered that their side have to stay an extra night on the south coast.
Heartbroken for everyone during these difficult times ?

Bless them, how awful. Of all the struggles we’ve seen people experiencing this year, this has to be up there amongst the worst. A night in a hotel, turmoil.

I hope they will be ok stranded in Southampton for an extra day

Please let them know that we are here for them.
In case they need to talk about their hardships.— Tyler (@HaddawayMan) November 6, 2020
Is this a pointless post?
Yes, means nothing
No, it is interesting
Earlier today, Newcastle’s official page put up a video of the players boarding a plane to travel to Southampton for the Toon’s game with the Saints.
So, we will have to see if travelling down on the same day will have any impact on how Newcastle play against Southampton.
However, it now looks like they will be forced to stay on the south coast for an extra night, which has not bothered many of these Newcastle fans, who don’t even see why Downie has tweeted about this.
