Willems had joined Newcastle on loan from Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 before returning to the Bundesliga club in June 2020. The Dutchman had suffered a cruciate ligament rupture during his stint at the St. James’ Park.

The Magpies have since signed Jamal Lewis from Norwich City, but despite that, some other Newcastle fans also seem to want Willems back at the club.

It is clear that these Newcastle fans want Willems to return to the club. His current deal at Frankfurt runs out in the summer of 2021, which means that the Magpies could be able to sign him for a cheap fee in the January transfer window or even for less if they can hold out until the summer.

Willems made 19 Premier League appearances last season and directly contributed to four goals. As a result of that, he picked up a rating of 6.84/10 (as per WhoScored) and he was the club’s fourth-highest rated player in the 2019/20 league campaign. Because of that, signing Willems would make sense for the Magpies, especially since he may not cost too much.
