Liverpool journalist Ian Doyle has shed some light on Reds defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and the injury he sustained during the Reds’ 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the weekend.

This comes after Doyle’s assessment of the match at the Etihad Stadium was featured on the latest episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast.

First up in this Steven Gerrard quiz, how old is the former Liverpool man?

During his assessment, Doyle had this to say on the injury suffered by Alexander-Arnold.

He said: “Liverpool did have one injury issue to contend with, that was Trent Alexander-Arnold. He went off with what looked like a calf problem. He’s certainly going to be out for England’s international games over the next couple of weeks. He’s most likely to be out for another couple of weeks after that, so not great for Liverpool, in that respect.”

Alexander-Arnold started the match against the Citizens but was taken off in the second half following his injury and was replaced by James Milner.

The right-back’s performance in the game earned him a match rating of 6.53/10, making him the third-highest-rated Liverpool player on the day (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts on Ian Doyle’s comments on Alexander-Arnold…

It’s a shame that Alexander-Arnold was forced off the pitch at the weekend when he was having a good game until then. As Doyle mentioned in the podcast, it seems likely now that Alexander-Arnold will be unavailable for England’s upcoming international games after he was included in Gareth Southgate’s latest squad.

The eight Premier League appearances Alexander-Arnold has made for Liverpool so far this season have earned him a season rating of 6.74/10, making him Liverpool’s sixth-highest-rated player at this moment in time – which may suggest the Reds could be adversely affected by any prolonged absence from the full-back.

Everyone at Liverpool will now be hoping that his injury is not a serious one and that Alexander-Arnold can get back to full fitness as soon as possible.
