Jan Aage Fjortoft has recently provided some details about the possibility of Erling Haaland moving to Liverpool in the future.

Fjortoft was a guest in the latest video on the Anfield Agenda Youtube channel and talked about many issues involving Liverpool and Norwegian football. One topic of discussion was Haaland and if he could end up at Anfield in the future. He believes that when the striker eventually leaves Borussia Dortmund, many clubs will look to sign him and it is tough to say where he could end up next.

Haaland had joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020 for a fee of £17.1m. RB Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund has already insisted that the striker will end up joining Liverpool at some point in the future.

Will Liverpool ever sign Erling Haaland?

Fjortoft believes that Haaland is someone who can fit in anywhere because he comes across as a modern striker.

He said: “I can see him playing in England at some stage, but what we’ve learnt from his team, the people around him, Alfie Haaland – who you know from English football – is that he is always looking for places to develop. Can he develop in Liverpool? Of course he can. Will Jurgen Klopp be there in one and a half years? We don’t know. At the time when he will leave Dortmund – at some stage he will – then all the big clubs will be after him, but it is so hard to say now which clubs will be more attractive.”

“Erling Haaland – he would fit everywhere, because he’s a modern number nine. He is not only a great player and a great, great talent, he’s also got some skills and got some attitude around him.”

TIF Thoughts on Jan Aage Fjortoft’s comments about Erling Haaland…

Haaland, reportedly, happens to be at the top of Manchester United’s shortlist for long-term striker options. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for the Norwegian. This suggests that if Liverpool do enter the race to sign the striker, the competition will be pretty stiff and it won’t be easy to sign him.

Having said that, Liverpool currently have two out-and-out options for the striker’s position – Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino. The latter Brazilian is 29 and isn’t getting any younger, while it was reported that the Reds were looking to sell Origi in the summer. This suggests that they may need another striker soon and therefore it may not be a surprise if they look to sign Haaland at some point in the future.
