A lot of Leeds United fans have been reacting to a tweet that was recently posted by the Whites’ official Twitter account which shared a post-match interview with Patrick Bamford following the Yorkshire club’s 4-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Bamford scored the Whites’ only goal of this game but before scoring that goal in the 27th minute, he had a goal ruled out when his side was trailing by just one goal, due to his ‘outstretched arm being offside.’
The striker addressed this VAR decision in his post-match interview. Concerning the impact of his goal being ruled out, he said “it could’ve been a different game” if the goal stood, before commenting on the decision itself, saying: “I’ve been playing, what, seven years? I don’t understand the rule now. You can’t score with your hand, so if your hand or your arm is offside, how is that offside? They need to make it clear. No one really knows. The ref, when I asked him, didn’t really know.”
So, how did these Leeds United fans react to Bamford’s post-match comments?

It’s clear from what he had to say that Bamford is unsure about the VAR decision to rule out his goal and plenty of Whites fans replied to this tweet to slam the decision.
Shocking decision. Let’s start looking at how much of the player is on side not off. If it works out that there is at least 95% of a player on side goals should stand

Says it all really when even the ref doesn’t understand it. VAR is genuinely ruining what should be the best game in the world

Some Whites fans argued that Bamford was not actually offside in response to this tweet from their club sharing the striker’s post-match interview.
Does this look offside to you? pic.twitter.com/KW4ZTA8Lo2

Look at the player on the far side of Bamford. Where are the left side of his body, his left leg? Are they over the line? Show it VAR from the far side. If you can’t show it you have to give the benefit of doubt to the attacker. Except if your name is Mike Dean that is.

So, it’s clear from these replies to this tweet that plenty of Leeds fans are unhappy about this VAR decision.
