Many Leeds United supporters have flocked to Twitter in order to comment on an exchange between the chief football writer at the Yorkshire Evening Post, Graham Smyth, and ex-Liverpool and Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore.

Smyth quote-tweeted a post in which Collymore commented on the news that progress has been made regarding a virus vaccine, sarcastically labelling the former footballer as a ‘Scientiste!’, to which Collymore responded in a similar tone, saying: ‘Awww, bless you. Looking forward to you shouting it in person at a game when everything gets back to normal. And you’ll get that chance.’

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

The journalist then added a further response as can be seen below, prompting some of the Leeds faithful to join the conversation on the social media platform.

How have the Leeds fans responded to Graham Smyth’s exchange with Stan Collymore?

It’s clear from the above responses that these Leeds fans have taken Smyth’s side with regards to this exchange between the pair on Twitter. Some even suggested that the journalist, who covers the Whites regularly, isn’t ‘doing Twitter’ right given he is yet to be blocked by the former Liverpool and Aston Villa forward, who clearly has a reputation for blocking those he doesn’t see eye-to-eye with – there is even a Twitter profile dedicated to those who have been blocked on the website by the former striker.

In our view, Collymore’s response suggests he was looking for a bite from Smyth and so he did well to maintain his professionalism and not respond in a similar manner.
