Speaking recently on an episode of The Villa View podcast, Chris Dolan heaped praise on Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish.
Making his Villa debut as an 18-year-old back in 2014, Grealish has gone on to establish himself as a crucial part of the Villa first team, making 194 appearances for the club, scoring 30 goals and providing 35 assists along the way.
Last season, the £40.5 million-rated 25-year-old highly impressed for Dean Smith’s side, scoring eight goals and providing six assists over his 36 Premier League appearances, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.23/10 – ranking him as the club’s best performer in the league.
It appears as if the England international has continued this fine form into the club’s 2020/21 Premier League campaign too, having already scored four goals and provided four assists over his six league appearances so far this season, averaging a remarkable WhoScored match rating of 8.22 – once again ranking him as the club’s best performer in the competition at present.
The Villa captain was one topic of conversation on a recent episode of The Villa View podcast, in which Dolan stated his belief that it was almost embarrassing that Dean Smith’s side have Grealish in their team, due to the level of talent that the midfielder possesses.
He said: “He’s [currently] by far the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League, form-wise. If you’re going to go by stats, then he’s probably one of the most in-form attacking midfielders in Europe. Just seeing his levels, it’s frightening, it really is frightening. You don’t know where they come from, but he just seems to get better and better.
“Last season, he was incredible in a very, very poor team. This season, he’s just picked up where he left off. Quite frankly, [he’s] unbelievable to watch. It’s a little bit embarrassing having him at the football club because he’s just too good. We’re blessed that he’s a Villa fan and a Villa boy through and through. I don’t think a lot of players have that love. There’s only a select few in football that really love their football club and that’s quite old-school as well.
“Honestly, he’s incredible, absolutely incredible.”

From Dolan’s comments, it is clear that the podcaster is absolutely infatuated with Grealish, and is of the belief that the midfielder is an integral part of the current Villa side.
And we have to say, after looking at Grealish’s form for the club over the past two seasons, it is easy to see why Dolan feels this way, as the 25-year-old has consistently been far and away the club’s most impressive player.
