Steve from The Wednesday Week podcast has recently made a claim about the possibility of Nigel Pearson becoming the next Sheffield Wednesday manager.

Steve was a guest on the latest episode of The Wednesday Week podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving Sheffield Wednesday. One topic of discussion was the club’s next potential manager and Steve believes that Pearson’s abilities and strengths are just what Wednesday need right now.

Garry Monk was sacked as the Wednesday manager recently and the club’s 0-0 draw against Millwall was his last game in charge. Pearson last managed Watford in the Premier League last season but he was axed by the club before the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

Should Pearson become the next SWFC manager?

Steve wants Pearson to become Wednesday’s next manager and he made it very clear.

He said: “I think Pearson’s the person for me. He lives here, doesn’t he? He’s still in Sheffield. I know that he’s said that he doesn’t want to manage because he lives here, doesn’t want to do it on his doorstep sort of thing – but for me, his style of management, the way that he is with people, the players that he’s got – we’ve seen it at Watford, we’ve seen it at Leicester, we’ve seen it at Derby, he rubs people up the wrong way.

“You can take that in one or two ways. For me, I think that’s exactly what we need right now.”

TIF Thoughts on Steve’s comments regarding Nigel Pearson…

Pearson, currently 57, has a lot of experience of managing clubs in the Championship and he’s managed as many as 255 games in the division. He’s also managed 60 Premier League games in his career (as per Transfermarkt).

Pearson had guided Leicester City back into the Premier League back in 2014 and he had laid down the foundation for them to win the Premier League title in the 2015/16 campaign. This might be enough to suggest that Pearson is a pretty capable manager and because of that, it is understandable why Steve wants him as the next Sheffield Wednesday boss.
