Many Celtic fans have been fuming at Kris Commons after a tweet involving him recently emerged on social media.
Commons was recently talking to the Daily Mail (via the Scottish Sun) and spoke about Leigh Griffiths’ goal for Celtic in their recent 2-0 win over St. Johnstone in the Premiership.
Commons said that Griffiths, when fit, is the ‘best finisher in Scottish football by a mile’ but he believes that it would be ‘foolish’ to forgive everything else he has done solely on the basis of his goal on Sunday.
Griffiths had turned up for Celtic’s pre-season training in an overweight condition and was left behind in Glasgow when the club’s squad flew to France for their pre-season friendlies. He was later reminded of his responsibilities as photos had emerged of him hosting a party which broke government regulations.
A tweet involving Commons’ comments was relayed by the Scottish Sun. It caught the attention of many Celtic fans and they weren’t happy with what the former Hoops midfielder had to say.
I cannot stress this enough when I say no one, not one person on this planet has any interest or cares one bit about what kris commons does or says. He is a failed pundit who hasn’t got a clue

Commons is a disgrace, l don’t care what he did for us. He was a very average player. https://t.co/KQwwSpC2VH

There is nothing Commons can do to wipe the slate clean at Celtic. Griff on the other hand has nothing but goodwill. He’ll kick on yet again and bang them in.

Do we actually care what he thinks – nope ?

Griffiths had made his first appearance of the season on Sunday as he had missed the vast majority of the campaign so far due to a calf strain (as per Transfermarkt).
After he had turned up for pre-season training in a subpar condition, Neil Lennon had publicly criticised Griffiths. However, Commons’ comments left some other Celtic fans fuming.
I’m sure Griffiths will give him his answer

Griff’s slate at Celtic will be more easily wiped clean than Commons.

Kris Commons celtic legacy permanently tainted that he will never be able to wipe the slate clean

During his time at Celtic so far, Griffiths has made 235 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys and has scored as many as 116 goals while picking up 49 assists (as per Transfermarkt) despite a rather underwhelming fitness record.
At Celtic, Griffiths has also won seven Premiership titles. So he has clearly achieved a lot at Parkhead and deserves a lot of praise for it. The fact that Griffiths scored in his first appearance of the season shows how reliable a player he is and it is great to see that Celtic fans are standing up for him.
