Many Celtic fans have been fuming at the latest comments that Charlie Nicholas has made about the club’s transfer business.

Nicholas was recently talking to the Express (via the Daily Record) and he said that Neil Lennon wasn’t given a helping hand by the club in the transfer market and the Celtic manager would be ‘annoyed’ but he will still have to put on a brave face.

He believes that there are some question marks in some areas of the Celtic squad and the Gers would be thinking that they’ve done better deals in the summer transfer window. He also said that he knew that Celtic would take a ‘cheap’ route to sign a left-back.

Celtic spent £11.43 million on incomings in the summer transfer market and their net spent stood at £-10.08 million. They signed David Turnbull, Albian Ajeti and Vasilis Barkas on a permanent basis (as per Transfermarkt).

Some other Celtic fans also made their feelings clear about Nicholas’ comments regarding the club’s business in the summer.

These fans believe that Celtic have had a pretty good summer transfer window and Nicholas’ comments, in this case, are irrelevant.

In terms of out-and-out options, Celtic now have two choices for the goalkeeping spot because of Barkas’ arrival and have four players for the centre-back position due to the loan signing of Shane Duffy. Turnbull’s signing means that they have four options in central midfield too. Ajeti’s arrival has helped them have four strikers in the squad (as per Transfermarkt).

So there is clearly a fair amount of depth in the club’s first-team and fans can only hope that they win the title once again and prove Nicholas wrong.
