Celtic legend Chris Sutton has made a claim about the recent form of the Parkhead-based side.

Sutton was a guest on the latest episode of the Record Celtic podcast and he talked about multiple issues involving the Bhoys ahead of the Old Firm derby. The club legend also gave his opinion about Celtic’s recent run of form. Sutton believes that the Hoops haven’t been fluent so far and they aren’t at their best yet.

The Bhoys find themselves in second spot in the Premiership table. They are just one point behind the Gers, but they have a game in hand as well. A win on Saturday will take them to the top of the league (as per BBC Sport).

Do you think Celtic have been average this season?

Sutton feels that Celtic haven’t been fluent in the campaign and there have been question marks about the system, too.

He said: “We can’t get away from the fact that Celtic have been bitty [in] their performances. They haven’t been fluent, there’s question marks over the system at times. Neil Lennon’s been making a lot of changes. We can’t get away from the fact [that] they haven’t hit the straps.

“They haven’t been at their best as we saw at the turn of the year when Leigh Griffiths got himself fit, got himself back in the team. Celtic bounced back from that defeat against Rangers at Celtic Park and bounced back in superb fashion.”

Which of the following clubs has Shane Duffy never played for?

TIF Thoughts…

In the Premiership, Celtic have picked up a WhoScored rating of 7.03 so far, but Rangers have picked up a higher Whoscored rating than them in the campaign.

The Hoops have had close games against Dundee United, St. Mirren and Livingston and were held to a draw by Kilmarnock. That might reflect the fact that they haven’t been overly dominant in games, but the fact that they are second in the table shows that they know how to win games, despite everything.

That may come in handy in the upcoming Old Firm derby and Celtic fans can only hope that they win the game and the Hoops go to the top of the table. That might prove pivotal in their hunt for a 10th Premiership title in a row this season.
