A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from Michael Chopra after he claimed that the Saudis (PIF) involved in the proposed takeover of Newcastle United had gone and were no longer interested in buying the club.

Who will the Toon play in the next round of the Carabao Cup after they beat Newport County on penalties?

Chopra’s post was in response to a tweet from Liam Kennedy, who provided a takeover update and confirmed that talks are taking place behind the scenes to try and reach a positive outcome for the proposed takeover of the Toon by PCP Capital Partners, PIF, and the Reuben brothers.

The former Newcastle striker was involved in another takeover attempt by the Bellagraph Nova Group.

However, their bid was £280m, which was below Mike Ashley’s asking price, and an article by Reuters revealed some issues with the group.

Chopra’s tweet, therefore, did not go down well with these Toon fans who are fuming.

So, what did these Newcastle fans think of Chopra’s takeover tweet?

Do you think Chopra should have said this?

No, stupid thing to say

Yes, he might be right

When the news of the Bellagraph Nova Group’s bid emerged, it was claimed that Chopra was fronting the deal, but they never received a response from Ashley or his lawyers, and there was a report that suggested that Ashley considered this group to be ‘time-wasters.’

However, their interest re-emerged earlier this month with claims from Evangeline Shen, a member of the group, that talks were ongoing.

However, they have not raised their bid, and the bid hasn’t even been handed to Ashley to look at yet, so by the looks of that, Ashley doesn’t consider this group Chopra is involved in to be serious.

Judging by many of the replies, we don’t think many Toon fans do either.

The latest on the PCP, PIF, and Reuben brothers bid is that it is with the lawyers, and Ashley intends to force it through after it was initially withdrawn in July.

So, though it is not clear what will happen with that one, it certainly looks more serious than the bid Chopra is involved in, and by tweeting this, we think he was just asking to be criticised.
