Celtic pundit Kevin Graham has criticised Mohamed Elyounoussi for his recent performances.

Graham was a guest on the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Parkhead-based club. They talked about multiple Celtic players and one player that Graham did speak about was Elyounoussi. He believes that the Norwegian has been letting Neil Lennon down this season.

Elyounoussi had joined Celtic on loan from Southampton in the summer of 2019. He returned to Parkhead on a loan deal in the recent summer transfer window as well. So far in the campaign, the Norwegian has made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys and has directly contributed to nine goals so far (as per Transfermarkt).

Do you think Elyounoussi has had a disappointing season?

Graham had stinging criticism for Elyounoussi and he said: “Neil Lennon showed a lot of faith in Elyounoussi – a lot of faith. And he seems to be letting him down quite a bit. Neil Lennon is showing faith in his players. Some players that a lot of Celtic fans wouldn’t give the chance to, but the performances have been poor and there doesn’t seem to be that light at the end of the tunnel.”

TIF Thoughts on Graham’s comments on Elyounoussi…

Elyounoussi, who is valued at £8.55m, has picked up a rating of 6.61 for his performances in the Premiership so far. As a result, as many as 16 players have picked up better ratings than him for the Bhoys in the league.

It shows that his performances do need to improve and Graham is right to criticise him as well. Having said that, he has contributed to nine goals in all competitions this season and it shows that he’s still managed to come up with important contributions for the club. It suggests that this has been a mixed season for him so far.
