Moyes has been situated at the London Stadium since he returned to the club in late December last year following Manuel Pellegrini’s sacking (per BBC).

During his second stint with the Irons, the Scottish manager has overseen 29 matches, nine of those have been won, seven drawn and 13 lost (per Transfermarkt).

His current contract with the London club is set to run until the summer of next year.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “I feel like he deserves a long-term contract. In his current deal, there’s [an] option and it can be triggered by certain clauses being activated.

“Obviously, I don’t even know what the clauses are. The club are keeping that very secret, keeping it very close to their chest.

“If you just reflect on his time at West Ham and just the way the club has improved in terms of form, the players that have taken their game to another level, bringing young players into the first team.

“There’s a real good [feel-factor] at the club right now; that all is down to David Moyes. He has a brilliant coaching staff – all of whom are managers in their own right. So, he’s just doing a remarkable job.”

Presumably, the fact that the Hammers have picked up eight points in their previous four Premier League matches (per West Ham) has played a part in Thomas’ praise.

However, Thomas is not alone in his belief that the Scottish manager deserves a long-term contract as the players are also reported to be of the same way of thinking (per The Telegraph).

So, it will be interesting to see if the calls for the club to give the Scotsman a longer deal have an impact on him getting one.
