Aston Villa club ambassador and former player Ian Taylor has been talking about the ‘animosity’ between the Midlands club and Leeds United, as well as the behaviour of the Yorkshire club’s representatives at Villa Park during the recent match between the two clubs.

This comes after Taylor recently made a guest appearance on The Villa View Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Dean Smith’s side.

On the topic of Villa’s 3-0 defeat to Leeds at Villa Park last week, Taylor was asked if there are any bad relations between the representatives of the two clubs and how the Leeds representatives behaved at Villa Park, to which he gave this reply.

He said: “There’s a little bit [of bad blood]. Let’s put it this way, there wasn’t that much decorum from the Leeds lot that night.

“We’re looking over and they were crowing a little bit, which didn’t go down too well, especially with myself. I think there has been a little bit of animosity grown between the two clubs – not just the fans. But it’s one of those, we’ve got to take it on the chin, you’ve got to take defeat with dignity and move on.”

Marcelo Bielsa’s side beat Villa 3-0 with Patrick Bamford scoring all three goals for the visitors.

TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments on Leeds…

One potential reason why the two clubs have a bit of animosity between them as Taylor said in the podcast, could be because of the infamous 2019 match between the two sides that saw Bielsa order his team to allow Villa to score a goal after a clash ensued between the two sets of players after Leeds scored a goal while Jonathan Kodjia was down injured on the pitch.

It’s never nice to hear that there is bad blood between two football clubs. Hopefully, these two sides can put their differences aside and move on.
