The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas believes that West Ham United first-team coach Kevin Nolan can help Sebastien Haller reach his potential.

Since the Hammers sealed the arrival of the Frenchman from Eintracht Frankfurt for £45m, he has scored just 12 goals in 42 appearances for West Ham (per Transfermarkt).

So far this season, though, he has managed a fairly decent goals return as he has scored five goals over eight appearances in all competitions.

However, four of those goals came against League One opposition as David Moyes’ side faced Charlton Athletic and Hull City in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

During the latest episode of The Athletic’s U Irons podcast, Thomas aired his belief that working with Kevin Nolan in training could improve the striker’s game.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “As we were [discussing] earlier about Kevin Nolan possibly getting the best out of Haller, because if you think about Kevin Nolan’s career, he’s played alongside [the] majority of the big men.

“Like Kevin Davies at Bolton comes to mind, Shola Ameobi, Andy Carroll.

“So, if you’re looking for someone to try and get the best out of Haller and get him firing on all cylinders again, he is the best person to try and speak to.”

TIF Thoughts on what Roshane Thomas said about Kevin Nolan and Sebastien Haller…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, he seems to believe that the former midfielder may be the best person to get the Frenchman “firing on all cylinders”.

Do you think Kevin Nolan could get the best out of Sebastien Haller?

No, I don't think he could

Yes, I think he could do

Yes, I think he could do

Nolan joined West Ham’s first-team coaching staff in February 2020 (per West Ham) and will have presumably had some involvement with Haller since then.

However, since the beginning of February, Haller has scored just two goals in 14 Premier League appearances for the Hammers (per Transfermarkt).

So, if Nolan has been working with Haller in training, there certainly does not seem to be any results from his coaching yet.
