Aston Villa podcaster Chris Dolan has been sharing his thoughts on Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford.
This comes after Dolan recently co-hosted the latest episode of The Villa View Podcast where he spoke about a variety of topics concerning the Birmingham club.
On the subject of Bamford, who scored all of Leeds’ goals in Villa’s 3-0 defeat to the Yorkshire club last week, Dolan had this to say on the striker.
He said: “He could have had five [goals]. He missed a couple of golden chances in the first half, and dare I said to myself, in between the half-time break, I was thinking, ‘well, thankfully, it’s only Bamford up top for them and they haven’t got a worldie striker’, and then I sit down to watch the second half and he absolutely tore us to shreds.
“I think what made it harder to take was there’s obviously a little bit of history that built up between us and Leeds over the last maybe two seasons, two of the biggest clubs in the Championship and what happened at Elland Road and Bamford going down and he is known for his antics, like we saw even during the game, he went down and listen – he’s probably like their Jack Grealish.
“Leeds fans love him, opposing fans dislike him. We love Grealish and you got other opposing fans that dislike Jack. I think he’s just got under our skin, Leeds have got under our skin as a club.”
Bamford, who is currently valued at £9 million, earned himself a perfect match rating of 10/10 for his performance against Villa last week.
Leeds signed the 27-year-old back in the 2018 summer transfer window from Middlesbrough for a fee of £7.11 million. Since then, the striker has made a total of 78 appearances in which he has managed to score 32 goals and provide eight assists (per Transfermarkt).
Back in April 2019, Bamford was charged with deception after feigning a facial injury that got Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi sent off when the two sides met last year.

It’s interesting that Dolan compared Bamford with Villa club captain Jack Grealish in terms of players that are liked by fans of their club but not liked by opposing fans.
Given how Bamford recently put three goals past Villa, it’s not really a surprise that he isn’t a popular figure at Villa Park at this moment in time.
