Speaking on a recent episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee provided an update on the contract situation of West Ham United’s manager, David Moyes.

After their first Premier League game of the season resulted in a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United, West Ham faced a run of what appeared to be a rather gruelling five games, in which the club faced five of the top eight teams in the league last season.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

However, Moyes’ side earned a very respectable eight points from those five fixtures, comfortably beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 and Leicester City 3-0, as well as picking up a point in a 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur and a 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

And, while the Hammers are not out of the woods just yet in terms of tricky fixtures, with a trip to Premier League champions Liverpool up next, praise has been heaped on Moyes for the job he has done in east London so far this season, with talk emerging regarding the club offering the Scot a new contract.

This was one subject of conversation on a recent episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, in which @ExWHUemployee provided an update on the contract situation of Moyes.

He said: “Talking about contracts, I mentioned last week that we’d be looking at David Moyes and giving him a new contract. I think the club are looking at it, but they want to just wait a bit longer to see whether this current form is not a flash in the pan and, actually, that it is something that he’s going to sustain.

“So, I don’t think a contract offer will come in the next few weeks, but probably more likely in January time, when we know how well this season’s going – because they don’t want to offer him a new deal and then for us to be in a relegation battle again.”

TIF Thoughts on @ExWHUemployee’s update on David Moyes’ contract…

From @ExWHUemployee’s comments, it would appear that he is of the belief that the club are indeed considering offering Moyes a new deal, however, that they may bide their time with this offer, as they want to ensure that the club’s current run of form is something that the 57-year-old can maintain over a longer period of time.
