Nathan Judah and Joseph Masi discussed all of the latest West Bromwich Albion news on the most recent edition of The Express and Star’s Baggies Broadcast podcast and Masi shed some light on how West Brom manager Slaven Bilic feels about 22-year-old Baggies winger Kyle Edwards during the show.

Edwards has currently got less than a year remaining on his West Brom contract. The £1.17m-rated winger’s contract was set to expire at the end of last season, however, the West Midlands club took up their option to extend his deal by a further year.

As per The Express and Star, Edwards and West Brom were ‘in advanced talks over a new long-term deal,’ earlier this year but those talks were ultimately halted due to the current viral outbreak.

While discussing Edwards during this recent edition of the Baggies Broadcast podcast, Masi made a potentially positive claim about the player’s West Brom future, as he indicated that Bilic thinks quite highly of the winger, saying:

“Bilic loves him. Bilic thinks he’s got absolutely huge potential so I think Bilic would want to keep him, I do. We’ll have to see about that, see how talks go.

“We’re not quite in contract renewal stage really, I’d say, of the season I think so talks will be starting. The window has just closed you’ve got to remember – a lot has been going on.

“He’s an absolutely smashing lad. He’s a laugh a minute, he really is a laugh a minute and you can tell that the players love him as well – he must be great in the dressing room – and he’s obviously West Brom mad so fingers crossed he does stay.”

TIF Thoughts on what Masi had to say about Edwards…

Judging by his comments, it’s clear that Masi is hopeful that Edwards stays at The Hawthorns beyond the length of his current deal and it also certainly seems as though Bilic is keen to see the 22-year-old sign a new deal with the Baggies based on what the journalist revealed during this podcast.

With the manager seemingly holding the winger in high regard, it may be fair to say that Edwards’ future at West Brom looks quite positive right now and perhaps there is a good chance we will see him remain at The Hawthorns beyond the end of the current campaign.
